Preview: New Book Coming in 2027

The new swing is what this book is about.
It launches in 2027.

Excerpt

When the pressure builds, you retreat inward. I’ve watched it in the CEOs I sit across from, and I’ve done it myself. You take more control. You do more yourself. You get to lead, and you know it’s a privilege, so you lean on what got you here: your strengths, your drive, your history of betting on yourself. Nobody else can see the pressure, but you know it’s there. Some nights you can’t turn your mind off. You wake at 3am, stare at the ceiling for fifteen minutes, then give up and get up and work. The pressure and the weariness stack up and that combination slowly erodes your clarity, your confidence, and your certainty.

Think about a golf swing. Even if you don’t golf, you can picture it: the green grass, the quiet, the club drawing back. You’ve made that swing thousands of times. It’s ingrained in muscle memory and when the pressure hits, it’s the one that shows up. Your leadership has a swing too, built from real strengths and old habits. You go quiet, or you get loud. I know which one I do.

You learn nothing from getting it done yourself. You only strengthen the belief that nobody else can. And you’re no longer at the driving range. The wind is howling. The ground is shaking. The ball is moving. Your old swing will not work.

Leading in the Age of AI

AI is putting a spotlight on the leadership capacity crisis that already exists. My clients and colleagues have been working though complexity challenges way before ChatGPT arrived. This is just the loudest pressure test to show up in thirty years, and it’s coming at you from three directions at once.

From inside, where your team is already using AI tools, sanctioned or not. From outside, where your customers and your competitors want your response to the AI question. From above, where your board, investors, and your lenders expect a strategy, not a shrug. Three directions. One question underneath all of them: can you actually lead through this?

MORE

“We had adopted a process, but we were disorganized. Our month-to-month management cadence did not really exist, and our communication was inconsistent. Rom was instrumental in getting us all on the same page.”

Meet Rom

Whether it is in our personal or professional lives, growth is a positive thing. At the same time, the truth is that growth brings change, and change brings real challenges to company owners, leadership teams, and stakeholders.

My name is Rom LaPointe, Founder of Capricorn Leadership. Using my own experience as a CEO and leader, I help others succeed by guiding them through the challenges of growth. I work with organizations of various sizes from many industries, but they have these things in common:

  • They want authentic coaching, facilitation, and guidance from a trusted source
  • They value honest conversation and are seeking true engagement among their teams, partners, and clients
  • They are open to learning more, communicating better, and working toward common goals
